Woahhhh,

It’s almost a new year again. A new decade! Time isn’t slowing down. Time flew by this month and I wasn’t able to get all of the LLC stuff ready to sell prints on my website. I’d rather not rush it and do it correctly the first time around. More on that soon.

The past few months I’ve went to a lot of concerts and stand up comedy shows. They’re expensive and make me cringe when I check out to pay an extra $10 for ticket processing fees. But I’ve yet to have an experience that wasn’t worth a multiple of what I paid to go. Most recently I saw 100 gecs & Slowthai open for Brockhampton. I was in heaven! I’m not sure why I’m telling you this but I guess it’s a reminder that sometimes you should bite the bullet and spend a bit more then you think you currently can.

I’m very happy with the videos I’ve been making and am hoping to put out three new ones this month, so make sure to subscribe. 2020 is definitely the year that I’m going viral so it’ll be cool to say you were early. Haha =)

The Case for Being a Multi-Hyphenate

This article by Ryan Holiday was one of the building blocks for his new book, Stillness is the Key. We read this for my book club and I’d highly recommend it. I think you can draw a lot of parallels from the book to Mister Rogers too.

In the article, he talks about how people in ancient times wore a lot of different hats. That is to say that Seneca was more than just a philosopher. In many regards our society is looping back to that way of life. You can see it in how long people stay at one company. I don’t know what I want to be yet but I think I want to be a lot of different things. Can I put multi-hyphenate on my resumé?

Can You Say… Hero?

This is the profile that inspired the new Mister Rogers’ movie (See above). There’s no spoilers in the piece but it was fun to connect the dots between both stories and see where they took poetic license and altered the narrative.

Seth Godin writes a daily email newsletter that I always read. It seems counterintuitive to recommend someone else’s email newsletter in an email newsletter but I’m doing exactly that.

A chance for better

Perfect is the enemy of good.

Of course it is.

But that simple sentence becomes more urgent when we realize that nothing (and no one) is perfect. How could it be?

And so, if your hero, your cause, your holiday, your background, your relationship… if it’s not perfect, does that mean you should hide it? Be ashamed of it? Be afraid of it?

We’re surrounded by injustice, and yesterday was even worse. It’s so easy to find things that are imperfect and criticize them or worse, shame them.

Better, I think, to find glimmers of good and seek to amplify them. Mistakes can be seen, errors can be improved upon, progress can be made. But only if we embrace the chance for good.

The imperfect is an opportunity for better.
